Middlebury Democratic Town Committee
The Democratic Town Committee exists for the purpose of governing the Democratic party and is responsible for the formulation, direction and execution of all policies of the state and local Democratic party.

Twenty-five members are elected at large, provided their names appear on the last completed enrollment list of the Democratic party.

Meetings take place at 7:30pm on the second Tuesday of each month at Shepardson Community Center, Room 27. all Democrats are welcome to attend.

Middlebury Land Trust

Friends of the Middlebury Library
This organization's purpose is to focus public attention on the library, function as an advocate group for the library, foster the use of the library as a cultural center and provide supplementary services and equipment not possible to finance through town funds.

All are welcome to join. Annual membership dues are $5 for individuals, $10 for families, $50 for businesses and $25 patrons. Dues and fundraisers pay for the purchase of library equipment for public use, including computer hardware, software and audio-visual equipment, compact disc player, and free passes to area museums.

Special events include an annual spring book sale, children's Christmas and summer programs and a winter lecture series with speakers on travel, the arts, world politics etc.

The board meets on the second Thursday of each month at 7 PM in the Larkin Room. Membership applications or additional information may be obtained from the Middlebury Public Library.

Middlebury Seniors Club
The Middlebury Seniors Club welcomes local seniors to all of its activities. The group meets at 12:30 PM on the fourth Thursday of the month in the Shepardson Community Center.

AARP
The Middlebury Chapter of the American Association of Retired Persons meets at 12:30 PM on the first Tuesday of the month, in room 26 of the Shepardson Community Center.

The national organization requires members to be 50 or older.

Middlebury Soccer Association

The association's purpose is to promote youth soccer for boys and girls by providing athletic training and instruction, plus competition with teams from all over northwestern Connecticut.

Middlebury children ages 4 and up are eligible to join, board meetings for interested adults are announced and published monthly.

The association offers two soccer seasons, independent of each other. The spring season runs April, May and June and the fall season runs September, October and November. Winter soccer may be offered by individual coaches.

Special events include dances, awards banquets and other events throughout the year.

Middlebury Republican Town Committee
The Republican Town Committee exists for the purpose of governing the Republican Party in Middlebury, and to elect Republican candidates to local and statewide offices.

Membership is open to registered Republicans.

The committee meets monthly at 7:30pm every second Tuesday in Shepardson Community Center, Room 26.

A fund-raising cocktail party is held as an annual event in the fall.

Middlebury Business Association
There are approximately 160 businesses registered in the Town of Middlebury. The Middlebury Business Association was formed to improve the local climate for business.

The group functions as a liaison between town government and the business community, working for the betterment of all. Membership is open to anyone who works or lives in Middlebury, or has business ties of any kind of the Town.

The group holds three regular meetings annually, with extra meetings scheduled as the needs of the business community dictate. Times, dates and locations of all meetings are announced in Voices

Middlebury Knights of Columbus
The Knights of Columbus acts as a support service to the Roman Catholic Church, through volunteer activities.

The not-for-profit organization raises funds for scholarships, youth activities and the Special Olympics.

The 92-member organization is open to all Roman Catholic men. The group has two meetings monthly, a business meetings at 7:30pm the first Thursday of each month at St. John of the Cross Church, and a social meeting at 7:30 PM the third Wednesday of each month at Shepardson.

The Knights participate in Memorial Day activities in town, hold a tootsie roll sale to benefit mentally retarded citizens during September and October and raise money for scholarships during Middlebury Day at Quassy Park.

Middlebury Baseball, Inc.

The groups' purpose is to promote the sport of baseball, particularly Babe Ruth baseball, among the Town's youth. In includes Babe Ruth Youth Baseball baseball League - tee ball ages 6-8; minors, ages 9 & 10; and majors ages 11 & 12 & Babe Ruth Senior League ages 13-15, all in the spring.

Sign-ups are in February for the season. (Click here for current signup dates) Annual activities include Opening Day in early May, and a First Pitch banquet in March with a prominent baseball figure as a guest.

Middlebury Boy Scouts
The are four units of the Boy Scouts of America in Middlebury: Cub Scout Pack 6, Cub Scout Pack 15, Boy Scout Troop 5 and Boy Scout 444.

Cub Scout Pack 6 is sponsored by the Middlebury Congregational Church and is open to boys ages 6 to 11. The Pack web page is at http://www.middleburypack6.org and the cubmaster can be e-mails at cubmaster@middleburypack6.org

Cub Scout Pack 15 is sponsored by the Long Meadow Elementary School PTO, and is open to boys 6 to 11.

Boy Scout Troop 5 is also sponsored by the Middlebury Congregational Church, and meets there at 7 PM each Thursday. The troop is open to boys from ages 11 to 18. The Troop web page is at http://www.troop5middlebury.org and the Scoutmaster can be e-mailed at scoutmaster@troop5middlebury.org

Boy Scout Troop 444 is sponsored by the Police Social Club and meets at 7:30 PM Thursdays at Shepardson Community Center. The troop is open to boys from age 11 to 18.

Middlebury Lions Club
A civic organization with strong emphasis on local projects, the Middlebury Lions Club is open to any individual who lives or works in Middlebury,

Meetings are held in the Shepardson Community Building the second and fourth Wednesdays of the month, beginning at 6 PM.

Fund-raising activities include an annual community dinner held throughout the year.

Money raised is used to support some annual obligations (primarily toward sight and blindness-orientated charities or research), but is used primarily on the local level for similar projects.

Other donations are used to provide funds for local scholarships and for local Emergency Fund, and to underwrite local Eagle Scout projects, among other uses.

New members, including women, are being actively south at this time

Middlebury Community Woman's Club
The club, a branch of the national Junior Woman's Club, is open to area women aged 18 and over. Meetings take place at 7 pm on the first Wednesday if the month in Shepardson Community Building.,

A non-profit, service oriented group, the club has made contributions to Special Wises, Inc., the Parent Aid program at St. Mary's Hospital, the Salvation Army, the Women's Emergency Shelter of Waterbury and the equipment fund at Waterbury Hospital.

Club projects have also benefited the Middlebury Convalescent Home, the Town's Parks and Recreation Department and the discretionary fund of the Town's Social Services Department.

Annual fund-raising activities include a spring golf tournament at the Country Club of Waterbury.

Pomperaug High School PTO-Booster Club
The Pomperaug High School PTO-Booster Club heads a cooperative effort between PHS teachers, staff, administration, students and parents to provide support to the students during their high school years.

Through various fund-raising activities, the group is able to offer ten scholarships to graduating seniors, Teachers Grants help teachers acquire additional educational supports.

The PTO-Booster Club's major fundraiser is a fall membership drive. They also sell candy during basketball games.<)P> Membership is open to parents and teachers. Meetings take place at 7:30pm on the first Wednesday of the month in the PHS Media Center. Special guest speaker meeting meetings begin at 7 PM.

American Field Service Club
The Pomperaug High School American Field Service Club (AFS) is part of an international organization for student exchanges to promote understanding among various cultures and form a global intercultural community.

Students in grades 9 through 12 may become members of the club, which meets bimonthly.

Tribury Relay For Life
Relay For Life is a fun-filled 24-hour event designed to celebrate survivorship and raise money for the American Cancer Society. During the event, teams of people gather at the Pomperaug High School athletic field to take turns walking, jogging or running. Each team tries to keep at least one team member on the track at all times. The teams are comprised of 10 to 15 people who may be relatives or neighbors, and are often connected through work, church, synagogue, school or civic organizations. Because Relay For Life is a community gathering, rather than an athletic event, anyone and everyone can participate.

Tribury Rotary Club
This is a service club which supports various community and international causes, particularly a scholarship program for area high school students.

Membership is open to adults "of good character and with a good business and professional reputation." The club holds a rose sale, a scholarship program, a high school student exchange program and Polio Plus.

Lunch meetings are held at 12:15pm Thursdays at the Southbury Hilton.

Watertown Skating Club

club for adult and children 5-17yo held at the Taft new Odden rink Nov-March.
