Updating my email address. My heart will always be in Middlebury.
My brother Doug and I and my parents Sally and Doug lived, it seems forever, on Washington Drive. I went to kindergarten on Library Road, when we used to get picked up in a station wagon (no school bus!)
Would love to hear from old friends!

This is the first time I've viewed this page. It is very nicely done and is an asset to the town. Under separate cover I request permission to use some of the items in material pertaining to Middlebury's Bicentennial Celebration.

I wanted to find out about your town because my daughter and son-in-law are going to be moving there soon. I have never been to Connecticut, and am anxious to see it firsthand.

Roughly, 13 years ago I purchased the “Josiah Bronson” house (circa 1738) on Breakneck Hill Road. Since the purchase I’ve been interested in the history of the house and the Bronson family.

If you would like to chat about the history or have any information please don’t hesitate to call or email us.

I left Middlebury in early 1967 @ the ripe old age of 8. I see it hasn't changed much since. It was a nice place to spend the early days of my life. Now that my dad has passed, i remember those days with fondness & a somewhat heavy heart. It's nice to know that some places are constant in life. I hope Middlebury stays the same always! If anyone reading this knows my old friend Mark Hadzega, tell him "hello from the very distant past"(He probably won't remember me).
chow for now!

Hi to all. Guess I am related to the Sills (through marriage). My GF Howard Dayton Garthwaite's sister Nellie Garthwaite married William (Will) Sills. Remember the High Meadow Farm in Wolcott CT too. My brother and I boarded horses with Uncle Fred then. Visited the new farm in Middlebury on many occasions. Beautiful country. Grew up in Waterbury, not far from Aunt Nellie and Perle. Kinda of makes me homesick to see all these nice messages. Keep up the nice work and thanks "FOR THE MEMORIES".

My family moved to 153 North Street when I was 5 some 50 years ago. It was a great town to grow up in. I attended Memorial Middleschool and high school at The Gunnery. Boy scout meeting were held in the basement of Shepardson Elementary. I enjoyed going to the library, now the site of the historical soceity and even wrote a report on the history of the town for one of my merit badges. I attended Ithaca College, then moved to Los Angeles to attend USC film school and never left Southern California. Reccently I saw Bill Morris from Woodbury Road. I trade Christmas cards with Bill Nordby, now in Oregon. The Stowe's lived down the street and I see Robert has posted a message.
I also have fond memories of swimming and sailing on the lake and going to Quassy amusement park. I live in similar type of town a mile from the Rose Bowl with my wife Michele and three children.
It is nice to see a website about this beautiful place

I grew up on the Woodbury side of the Middlebury town line.(Sherman Hill Rd) Playing in the woods near Quassy, on the trestle tracks. Spent alot of time on dirt bikes through there. Ever go out to the island at Kelly's Pond? There were some very cool things in those woods even my Dad remembers when he was growing up. I left in '77 to find my way. Wouldn't be much of a reason to write this if I hadn't. I did sit in the throne at Little Peoples Village. Almost 5 7-year periods have passed with only a few close calls.
Thanks,
Jim Warner

Just an update - In my message from 2004, I forgot to mention that my brother, Pete Trinchero, was actively involved in Middlebury and we were so surprised to learn that he was packing it in and moving to sunny Arizona! It's great to have him here, though!! and be near my family once again! My son, TJ, lives in San Diego and my daughter, Sarah, lives with her husband in Tucson. My parents, brother Pete and his family all live close by and Pete is a proud grandpa of 3!!!!

So glad I found this guestbook. My parents moved to Southbury during my junior year in HS. Many of my friends at Pomperaug lived in Middlebury, and I have lost touch with them since graduating in 1977. My parents have since relocated to upstate NY, but my aunt still lives in one of those beautiful, rare historical homes on Main Street, Southbury so I have come back to visit the area and it always brings back wonderful memories of spending part of my youth there. My brother and sister, Toby and Melissa, have also relocated and are doing very well. Just a kudos for the Region 15 school system: it prepared us well for college and beyond. Thanks and appreciation to all the teachers who remember me....bonjour, Madame Bosman!

I found the picture of the house built by Larmon Townsend in 1814, now owned by Dr. & Mrs. Parker. Larmon Townsend was my G-G-G-G Grandfather. My maternal grandfather was Larmon Bronson Townsend, b. 9-1904- d. 1986. Perhaps related to Ms. Bronson from WA (vistor in Jan 2006) Would like to find her. Thanks for posting the information and I was so excited to see it. Please feel free to use my contact information for questions or any information I might supply. I'll have to come visit, sounds like a wonderful town.

WOW. Beautiful job. This site is awesome!!!
I lived in Middlebury until I was 26, I still go back to visit. It's a beautiful town. I remember the old wooden horses at Quassy, the original wild mouse, (it was green) and the train. I had a lot of great summers at the MRA, fishing at Quassy- catching a snapping turtle at Turtle pond, skating there too. Nice town to grow up in.
I Graduated PHS in 1981.

I am a direct descendent of Isaac Bronson who died in the Civil War. His widow, Louisa Bronson (also nee Bronson) went to California with her 3 children. Their son Frederick Edward went to The Dalles, OR., where my grandfather, Frederick Gore, was born. Frederick Edward Bronson went on to Wrangell, Ak., as customs agent. My grandfather and his two sisters were raised as the only non-indian children for years there. My grandfather was a sea captain who spent his married life in Seattle, WA., where my father and his sister were born. My career took me several time to my corporate office in the late '80s and early '90s, but I never found the Middlebury Historical Society Building open at the time. It is nice to find a Web page.

My sister Thyrza (an inveterate Internet prowler) sent me the link to Middlebury's site and this guestbook. We lived there from the early 50's to the late 70's when my parents emigrated to Vermont. I'm enjoying reading the different recollections and comments here. I drove around town this summer for the first time in easily a decade. Had a hot dog at Johnnies Dairy Bar and filled the car at Bobby Fords. We actually remembered each other. It felt good. Best wishes and thanks.

Great to read about people I went to Mary I & Memorial with! I still drive through Middlebury everyday and have watched its progress for years: some I like, some I don't. I walk at Hop Brook Park and the Bridle Path and imagine the old road to Naugatuck. Anybody else feel eerie doing that? I have extremely fond memories of my childhood in Middlebury.
