All vehicles entering must display a current transfer station sticker, which may be obtained free of charge by presenting a valid drivers license and a current Middlebury real estate tax bill at the scale house located at the entrance to the transfer station.
The town has an operational weight scale, which can weigh vehicles both arriving and departing the facility. The scale is used primarily for weighing in commercial waste haulers and for weighing out vehicles hauling trash to the regional CRRA facility in Watertown, Connecticut before being sent on to Hartford to be incinerated at the Mid-Connecticut Trash to energy Plant. The scale is also used to weigh homeowner demolition brought into the transfer station. Click here for the current charges imposed at the transfer station.
